I listen to jazz
Every night when I study
In the dining room.

The music -- complex,
Vibrant, cool and colorful --
Wakes up my senses

And meshes with words,
Somehow helping them make sense
As I read the page.

It's as if the notes
Embrace ideas on the page
And teach them to sing.
